Wisdom Respects Life
An activist district judge appointed by Clinton in
California has decreed that the recently passed bill banning partial birth abortions
is unconstitutional because it interferes with a woman’s right to control her
own body. The constitution never gave anyone the right to abortion. Some
activist federal judges have decreed it, and the National Democratic Party has
made the support of abortion rights a major issue of their agenda. If people
were thinking right, this one issue should destroy the liberal wing of the
National Democratic Party, removing them from influence within a party that
once stood for Christian moral values.
But a lot of
people get caught up in the old rhetoric of class warfare, thinking that the
Republican Party is the rich man’s party, and that the Democrats are for the
poor man, and so refuse to think straight. It should be enough that the
Democratic Party is the abortion rights party, the party that supports judicial
tyranny. How can a right thinking Christian support the killing of unborn
children?
People who love the lives of children have worked to
overturn the judicial tyranny that is costing one and one half million lives
yearly in our nation. Those millions of children will be missed down the road,
when the old folks may outnumber the workers.
If we had done the right thing, millions of babies who were killed by
the abortion rights activists’ influence over young mothers would be alive
today and entering the workforce. But
they were killed by people who did not care about the value of human life, and
who did not respect the value of people to be productive in society and to
provide wealth that is shared by all. People are a blessing, and they produce
wealth.
The Bible teaches that children are a blessing: “Sons
are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are
sons born in one's youth. Blessed is
the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they
contend with their enemies in the gate.” (Ps 127:3-5, NIV)
Large families are a blessing that is being missed by
many today, because too many have listened to the liberal voice that says people
are a problem, and that they should be eliminated to protect mother earth. The
idea that too many people produce poverty because of limited resources is just
plain wrong. Finally India and China are breaking away from the socialism that
was the real cause of their poverty, and both economies are growing at record
rates. People who have freedom to produce are a blessing to the world. The people who multiply the fastest will
inherit the earth in a democratic society. Foolish notions have doomed the wealthy
nations to old age crisis, while the poor who have large families are preparing
to inherit the earth.
We should
encourage the births of more children. Grandparents have a greater awareness of
the joy of seeing children grow up and take their place in society. We need mothers and fathers who are loyal to
each other, and who are devoted to their family’s well being. Such devotion
will be rewarded: “Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his
ways. You will eat the fruit of your
labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a
fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around
your table. Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.”
“May the LORD bless you from Zion all the days of your
life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem, and may you live to see your
children's children.” (Ps 128, NIV)
People are blessed by respecting the value of human
life. It is a basic principle of God’s wisdom and righteousness. And what life
is more precious than that of an innocent child, whose potential is yet to be
revealed?
