DANIEL AND HIS FRIENDS: DANIEL 1:1-2:12
1. "SOME OF
THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL" - 1:3 A. They were of the Royal Family - Dan. 1:3 B. They were taught the language and literature of Babylonia - Dan 1:4 C. They received the best from the table of the king - Dan. 1:5 D. Their names were changed - Dan. 1:6-7 E. Daniel made up his mind to not contaminate himself with the "Best" from the king's table - Dan. 1:8-21 1. God worked in Daniel's life to bless him - Dan. 1:9 2. Daniel and his friends only ate vegetables and water - Dan. 1:12, 16 3. After 10 days they had a better appearance than those who ate the King's food - Dan. 1:15 ``4. God gave the four young men "learning and skill in all letters and wisdom" - Dan. 1:17 To Daniel was given also the ability to understand visions and dreams. II. THE POWER AND SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD REVEALED
A. King Nebuchadnezzar began to worry about his dream - Dan. 2! 1. The king called his magicians, etc. to demand an explanation - Dan. 2:2 2. He threatened them with death if they could not tell him of his dreams and its interpretation - Dan. 2:3-11 3. When the magicians could not tell him, Nebuchadnezzar ordered that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed along with Daniel and his friends - Dan. 2:13 B. Daniel offers to interpret the dream for Nebuchadnezzar- Dan. 2:14-16 1. Daniel and his friends ask God for mercy to understand the mystery; the mystery is revealed to Daniel in a vision; Daniel prays, praising, and thanking God for his help - DAn. 2:17-23 2. The King asks Daniel to tell his the dream and its interpretation - Dan. 2:25 3. Daniel responds that there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries - Dan 2:28 CONCLUSION:
