THE DREAM REVEALED: DANIEL 2:31-49

 

 

I. THE DREAM OF THE KING - DANIEL 2:31-35

        A. Daniel tells the King about his Dream - Dan. 2:31

        B. The Description of the Statue - Dan. 2:31-33

                1. It was very big - v. 31

                2. It was very bright and frightening in appearance - v. 31

                3. The head was of fine gold - v.32

                4. The chest and arms were of silver -v.32

                5. The belly and thigh were of bronze - v.32

                6. The legs were of iron v.33

                7. The feet were partly of iron and partly of clay v. 33

 

        C. The Stone - Dan. 2:34-35

                1. It was cut out by no human hand - Dan. 2:34

                2. It crashed against the feet of the statueand broke them to pieces - Dan. 2:34

                3. The rest of the statue was also broken into pieces, like the chaff - Dan. 2:35

                4. The wind carried the pieces away so that no trace of them could be found - Dan 2:35

                5. The rock became a great mountain, filling the whole earth - Dan. 2:35

 

II. THE INTERPRETATION OF THE DREAM

 

    THE FIRST KINGDOM - BABYLONIA

        A. Daniel says the King Nebuchadnezzar is the greatest of kings because God has wanted it to be this way.  He,

            Nebuchadnezzar is the head of Gold - Dan. 2:36-38

 

    THE SECOND KINGDOM - MEDO-PERSIA

        B. After the reign of Nebuchadnezzar there will be an inferior kingdom.  It is represented by the Chest and Arms

            of Silver - Dan. 2:39

 

    THE THIRD KINGDOM - GREECE

        C. After the Kingdom of Medo-Persia will come that represented by the Bellyand Thighs of Bronze.  It will also

             be dominant and represents Greece - Dan. 2:39

 

    THE FOURTH KINGDOM

        D. The Fourth Kingdom will be as strong as Iron and will destroy the Other Kingdoms. Nevertheless, it will be a

             divided kingdom as symbolized by the Feet, One of Clay and the Other of Iron.  Thus it will be strong and weak

             at the same time.  It would be a kingdom brought together by means of marriage alliances (Vassal States), but

             they would not hold together - Dan. 2:40-43

 

    THE DIVINE KINGDOM-THE CHURCH-THE KINGDOM OF GOD

        E. The other kingdoms would be converted into Dust, but the last kingdom, the kingdom of God, is represented by

            the Stone.  This kingdom will last forever Dan. 2:44-45
