The Tongue: Very Difficult To Control

James 3:1-12

I. A Mistaken mindset: It’s all right to let the tongue be free, it’s harmless.

A. The tongue boasts of great things - James 3:5

B. It is a restless evil full of deadly poison - James 3:8

C. Out of the same mouth come blessings (praises) and curses - James 3:9-10

D. The tongue often emits the unexpected - James 3:11-12

II. A Correct mindset: The tongue must be controlled; it's very dangerous

A. One is often at fault for what he says - James 3:2

B. The tongue is a small but very powerful and influential part of the body - James 3:3-4

C. Like a forest fire, the tongue is very dangerous and hard to control - James 3:6-8

D. The tongue should be used for praise and not for cursing - James 3:9

II. Conclusion - Be careful with the tongue: it can be our biggest problem! Ephesians 4:29
