THE FALL OF MAN I. TEXTUAL
THOUGHTS 1. Genesis 2:16-17- God gave man a few simple instructions. 2. Romans 8:20-21- The creation
was subjected to futility, in hope. 3. Romans 5:12-21- Sin and death
opened the way for the grace of God. 4. Genesis 3:21- God provided for
covering the shame of sinners. II. MAIN
THEME:; God placed Adam and Eve in Eden where all
things necessary for their happy
existence were provided. God placed
the tree of life in the garden so that they could have life. He also placed the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil in the garden, and told them to not eat from it, on the
penalty of death. Eve was tempted by
the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life; she sinned
and encouraged her husband to sin. By
their sin death entered the world, and mankind was separated from God and
from the tree of life. But God had a
plan for redeeming mankind. 1. God gave mankind a choice in
the garden of Eden. a. He provided
everything needed for a good life, Genesis 2:8-9. b. He forbade man to
eat of the tree of knowledge, Genesis 2:16-17. 2. God allowed Adam and Eve to be
tempted. a. The deceiver was
allowed to give a different message, Genesis 3:1-5. b. Eve was tempted by
her human nature, Gen 3:6; 1 John 2:15-17. c. Eve and Adam both
made the choice to sin, Gen 3:6; James 1:13-15. 3. Sin produced shame and death. a. Adam and Eve were
ashamed because of their sin, Gen 3:7. b. They hid from God
because of their sin, Gen 3:8-13; Isaiah 59:2. c. They were separated
from the tree of life, Gen 3:22-24. d. Separation from God
is death, Eph 2:1-12; Rev 20:14-15; Rom 5:12. 4. God had a plan for redeeming
mankind. a. He gave them
garments of skin to cover their shame, Gen 3:21. b. He promised that
the seed of woman would bruise the deceiver's head, Gen 3:15; Rom 16:20. c. Through one Man He
would redeem many, Rom 5:12-21. III.
