CREATION
I. TEXTUAL THOUGHTS
1. Genesis 1:1-31- God created the heavens and the earth.
2. John 1:1-14- All things were made through the Word of
God.
3. Colossians 1:15-18- Jesus is the image of the invisible
God.
II. MAIN THEME: God the
Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit created the heavens and the earth and all
things living. Man was made in the
likeness of God, placed in a beautiful garden, and given responsibility over
the creation. God made woman from man
as a helper suitable for him, and gave them the husband-wife relationship.
1. There is one God.
a. He demonstrated His power in creation, Gen
1:1,26; Col 1:15-18
b. He is the true God, Isaiah 44:6-8; 45:5, 18
2. He exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit, Mat 28:19.
a. God said, and it was done, Gen 1:3, 6, 9, 11,
14, 20, 24, 26.
b. All things were made by the Word of God, John
1:3; Col 1:16; Heb 1:1-4.
c. God's Spirit worked in creation, Gen 1:2.
3. God created the heavens, the earth, and all living
creatures.
a. He created them from nothing, Hebrews 11:3;
Genesis 1:1.
b. He created them in six days, Genesis 1:31;
Exodus 20:11.
c. His creation was very good, Genesis 1:31; Isaiah
45:18.
4. God made man in His image.
a. He made him according to His plan, Genesis
1:26-27.
b. He made him a living soul, Genesis 2:7; 9:6.
c. He gave him dominion over creation, Genesis
1:28-30, Psalms 8:3-5.
5. God placed man in a beautiful garden.
a. He provided everything needed for abundant life,
Genesis 2:8-9.
b. He made woman as a comparable helper to man,
Genesis2:20-24.
c. He established the husband-wife relationship,
Genesis 2:22-24;
Ephesians 5:22-31.
III. PRACTICAL
APPLICATIONS
1. Man is not like the other animals, but is made in the
image of God, Psalms 8:3-5;
Genesis1:26;
2:19-20.
2. The true God is known from what He has done and by the
power He has
shown, Isaiah
45:1-7, 18; 44:6-8.
3. Those who worship idols are deceived, Isaiah 44:9-20.
4. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all
manifestations of the one
true God, 2 Cor
13:14; Acts 5:1-11; John 1:1-3, 14; Gen 1:1; Col 1:15-18.
5. The evidence of the creation declares the existence of
God, Rom 1:18-23.
6. The purpose of creation was the revealing of the children
of God, Rom 8:18-19.
