THE CONVERSION OF SAUL - ACTS 9

I.      THE "WORK" OF SAUL - ACTS 9:1-2

A.      He Threatened The Disciples (Believers) With Death - Acts 9:1

B     In Order To Go To Damascus, Look For Other Christians, And Bring Them Back As  Prisoners To

        Jerusalem, He Asked The High Priest For Letters To The Synagogue In Damascus - Acts 9:2

 

 

II.    SAUL ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS - ACTS 9:3-8

                A.    As He Neared Damascus, A Bright Light From Heaven Flashed Around Him, And He Fell To The Ground

                        Acts 9:3-4

                B.    A Voice Said, "Saul, Saul, Why Do You Persecute Me?"  And Paul Asked, "Who Are

                        You, Lord?" - Acts 9:5-6

                C.    The Voice Identified Itself As That Of Jesus And Ordered Paul To Go To Damascus    To Await Further

                        Instructions - Acts 9:5-6

                D.    Saul Couldn't See But Was Taken To Damascus By His Traveling Companions - Acts 9:8

                        E.     A Believer That Lived In Damascus, Ananias, Was Sent By The Lord To Where Saul Was Staying In

                                Order To Restore His Sight - Acts 9:10-17

                        F.     Saul Recovered His Sight And Was Baptized, Spending Several Days With The Christians In Damascus -

                                Acts 9:18-19

 

 

III.   SAUL BEGINS TO PREACH - ACTS 9:20-31

A.      He Preached In The Synagogues That Jesus Was The Son Of God, But The People Didn't Trust Him Since

        They Knew What He Had Done In Jerusalem And Why He

                        Had Gone To Damascus - Acts 9:20-21

                B.    The Jews Of Damascus Agreed To Kill Him, But He Escaped When The Believers Lowered Him In A

                        Basket Over The Side Of The City Wall - Acts 9:22-25

                C.    Saul Went To Jerusalem

                1.   The believers there were afraid of him at first, but he began to go about preaching the gospel - Acts

                      9:26-29

                2.   The Jerusalem Jews tried to kill him, but the Christians took him to Caesarea and then sent him off

                      to Tarsus - Acts 9:30

 

 

IV.   GROWTH OF THE CHURCH - ACTS 9:31  THE CHURCH GREW NUMERICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY IN

                                                                     JUDEA, GALILEE, AND SAMARIA; AND IT ENJOYED A TIME OF PEACE.

 

 

V.    CONCLUSION - Although He Had Fearlessly Persecuted The Church, Saul Met The Lord On The Road To

                                        Damascus.  Called By The Lord To Preach Of Jesus To The People Of Many Nations And To The

                                        Nation Of Israel, Saul Became A Great Preacher Of God's Word.
