GRACE   FILLED   LIFE

 

 

I. TEXTUAL THOUGHTS

                1. 1 Timothy 1:12-17- Paul received the overflowing grace of Jesus.

                2. 2 Timothy 1:9-10- The gospel calls according to the purpose and grace of God.

                3. Titus 3:4-7- Christians are justified by God's grace.

                4. 2 Timothy 2:1- Grace provides strength.

 

II. MAIN THEME- The gospel tells of the overflowing grace of God that brings salvation to those who believe.  Grace calls Christians to be strong in our relationship in Jesus Christ, protected and strengthened by the grace of God.  Since every good thing we have is a gift from God, boasting is excluded.

                1. Salvation is based on grace.

                                a. The life and sacrifice of Jesus came by grace, Titus 2:11-14.

                                b. Christians are justified by grace and mercy, Titus 3:4-7; Eph 2:4-10.

                                c. Paul is an example of someone saved by grace, 1 Tim 1:12-16.

                2. We are sanctified and made useful by the grace of God.

                                a. Paul was made useful by grace and mercy, 1 Tim 1:12-16; Gal 1:13-17.

                                b. Christians are called to a holy life by grace, 2 Tim 1:7-9.

                                c. Christians are kept by the power of God, 2 Tim 1:12; Rom 8:28-39.

                3. The Gospel message is sent forth by grace.

                                a. Grace provides the strength needed, 2 Tim 2:1-13; 2 Cor 12:8-10.

                                b. Giving is the center of the Gospel, 2 Tim 1:9-10; John 1:16-17, 3:16.

                                c. Grace must be at the center of our teaching, Titus 2:11-15; 3:4-8.

                                d. God gives the increase, 2 Tim 1:9-10; I Cor 3:6.

                4. God's work does not depend on our strength.

                                a. God provides our strength in Jesus Christ, 2 Tim 2:1; Titus 2:14.

                                b. It is God who works in His children, 2 Tim 1:9; Phil 2:12-16.

 

III. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

                1. Remember that God's grace as seen in Jesus has called Christians to live holy

                                 lives, Titus 2:11-15; 2 Tim 1:9; 2:19-22; Titus 3:8; 1 Pet 1:12-22.

                2. God's grace has called us to respect His word and teach it faithfully, I Tim 1:1-3;

                                3:15; 4:6,11-16; 6:12-14, 20; 2 Tim 1:10-13; 2:1-2, 14-16; 3:14-17; 4:2.

                3. Remember that God will provide what is needed if we will trust Him,

                                2 Tim 1:7-10; 2:7-13; 4:16-18; ; Rom 8:28-39.

                4. God's grace provides His power even when we are weak, 2 Tim 1:9-12;

                                2:24-26; 2 Cor 1: 8-10; 12:8-10.

                5. Remember grace provides the power to accomplish God's purpose,

                                2 Tim 2:1; 1 Tim 1:2, 14; Eph 2:4-10.

                6. Every good thing we have is a gift from God, therefore boasting is excluded,

                                1 Cor 15:9-11; -Rom 3:23-27; 2 Cor 10:12-18; Eph 2:9.
